Tuesday, 4/28/09 Report

We were very patient today and stayed in our neck of the woods. The water temps are up to around 53 degrees, and the fishing was very slow once again. Ken "The Legend" Havens (Pictured celebrating his winnings from a small wager with Mr. Yeager) caught the first fish of the day almost immediately after setting up on the anchor. We saw a few more during the first half hour, but after that it was a long while between fish. Had a change of tide around 11, but it didn't matter. Ended the day with 16 fish for 9 people.

Monday, 4/27/09 Report

Poor day of fishing. Not much more I can say.

Sunday, 4/26/09 Report

Today was more of the same. After starting off the morning outside of our harbor, we headed to Romer Shoal in hope of making the fishing better. Made a couple drops around the light, and quickly realized that it was not going to happen. Made a move over to the Ammo Pier and had similar results. Headed back to our harbor because that is the only place we have seen any fish. Slow picked a few more to end the day. Ended up with 18 fish on the boat.

Evening Bass Report

Our evening bass trips are off and running. Mostly shorts are being caught right now, but things should improve as the spring moves along.

Saturday, 4/25/09 Report

Started off the day on fire!!! We caught 12 fish in the first 45 minutes. Just as I was beginning to think that today was going to be a breakout day, it fell apart. We only caught 12 for the remainder of the day.

Friday, 4/24/09 Report

What a nice day out on the water today after a few days of bad weather. We are still fishing outside of our harbor. Water temps are up to 49 degrees, and the flounder fishing was a little better than it's been. It is still not great, but we did see more fish per person today than we have had on any other trip. Began the day on a drift and picked a few. Once we started to move to quickly we anchored and slow picked throughout the outgoing tide. We did not see any on the change to incoming. High hook was 3 fish and the pool fish was A WHOPPER, measuring in at 18 1/2 inches and over three pounds. The weather looks great for the weekend, so maybe this is the weekend that the fishing gets things going!

Weekend Report

4.18.09.dave.jpg    Flounder fishing was slow over the weekend. We fished from outside of our harbor to the Keansburg area, and the water temperature is still in the upper 40's. On Friday we had 14 keepers, with the majority of them being caught on the change of tide. Saturday was our best day with 16 fish. Sunday was just plain poor! We caught a few fish on the tide change in the morning, and then the wind came up out of the east, and that was it. Not another bite on the day.
It's going to be a few days before we get out again with this front coming through, but hopefully by the end of the week we will have some better weather to get this fishing going.

Sailing Tomorrow

We will be back in action tomorrow. The weather looks good for the next few days. Hopefully the flounder are ready to bite.

Friday, 4/10/09 Report

4.10.09.rob.jpg     Slow fishing again today. Could only muster up 7 fish again. Rob Morison won todays pool and was also high hook with 3 fish. Water temps are still in the mid 40's.

Thursday, 4/9/09 Report

Beautiful day on the water. With about 10 people on board we managed 7 keepers, with two 12 year old girls getting one each. Water is still to cold.

Tuesday, 4/7/09 Report

Nothing new to report. We haven't been out since Sunday mainly because of the weather.

Sunday, 4/5/09 Report

4.5.09.bass.jpg    It was good to get the season officially started today. Anchored up outside of our harbor. The wind was still blowing a good 20 knots out of the W - NW, and water temperature was a balmy 47 degrees. Fishing wasn't to good. We didn't see any flounder until the change of tide when we caught 6. We did see some striper action after the change, and ended up catching 2 keeper bass and another half doz shorts. Overall fishing wasn't good, but it was a start.

4.5.09.pool.jpg    Mike Mayvish of South Amboy, caught the first flounder and won the first pool of the year.

Opening Day 2009!!!!

Opening day went off without a hitch. Not a line was touched on the boat. And by that I mean the lines remained tied to the dock. It blew gale out of the west. Hopefully tomorrow will be the real opening day.
