Fishing Update

This is some weather we are having. It seems to rain, blow northeast, or snow everytime we have a trip, but hopefully that is over. We are still currently sailing from 7:30am to 3:30pm for porgies, sea bass, and blackfish on Wednesday's, Saturday's and Sunday's.

Saturday & Sunday 10/11 & 10/12 Report

10.11.08.joe.jpg     Slow fishing over the weekend with Sunday being slightly better than Saturday. The upcoming full moon was a contributor to the lackluster fishing.
We are starting to see some good sized sea bass come up, and the best of the porgy fishing is yet to come.

Wednesday, 10/8/08 Report

10.8.08.jpg    Another good day of porgy and sea bass fishing. Made our way offshore a good peg and had a solid pick of fish all day. The ratio was about 50/50, sea bass to porgies.
The weekend forecast looks great, so hopefully we can get out and fill some more coolers!!!

Friday, 10/3/08 Report

Excellent fishing today for sea bass and porgies. We started our morning on the Reef and had a very slow pick of fish. We were hesitant to push offshore with the wind blowing 25 out of the south and the forecast calling for it to get near 35 knots. Got to the point where we had to do something even if it was wrong, so we made the move offshore a good peg. Luckily, it paid off. The wind never diminished, and it didn't increase either. And we found the fish!!! Non-stop, fireball sea bass action with fish up to 3 pounds. There were a good number of porgies also, however the sea bass did outnumber them. We had very good fishing for the remainder of the day. By far the best fishing of the fall season so far.

Bottom Fishing Update

Well, here is the scoop. It's been a rough few weeks of business with Mother Nature beating us up. This morning I felt like I got one of those vintage, 27 second Knock-outs at the hands of Mike Tyson back in the 80's. I pulled up to the boat and realized that the weather forecaster's got us with the old "Chance of Rain" report. Only had 3 customers show up, and unfortunately we had to turn them away.
Last weekend was a wash with a hard northeast wind keeping us tied to the dock.
Our Wednesday Sept. 24th trip was ok. We fished inshore all day because of a big roll in the ocean from a NE wind. We had a slow pick of porgies and sea bass.
Fishing on Saturday and Sunday Sept. 20th & 21st was poor at it's best. Once again a hard NE wind from the week before beat down the fish. Sunday was slightly better than Saturday, but it was nothing to write about.
The forecast for this weekend look pretty good, so hopefully we can get on our spots, and throw some scup and sea bass in the coolers and on the fillet table. We have a private charter on Friday, so I will be able to give you an up to date report on the action by late Friday afternoon.
   Until then . . . . Go Big D. .  Don't implode on me now!!
